Snow!

I have been exceptionally lucky with the weather this winter. The house was pretty much weathertight before the winter set in and the bricklayers have only lost one day because of the low temperatures. Today was not particularly cold, but late afternoon, the sky darkened and suddenly everything was covered in snow. Did I speak too soon, is this the start of the bad weather.

The drinks cabinet re-appears

Many of you may recall the oak drinks cabinet in the old house. It was one of Sidney’s favourites – “the magic cabinet” – he would put his drink in there, close the door and it would magically disappear (I or James would go round the other side and take it out!).

Well I wanted something of the old house to remember it by and so about a year ago I had it carefully removed by Oakwood joinery. They refurbished it and stored it for me. Today it returned to the house to be built into the space prepared between the Lounge and the kitchen / diner. Once in place it will be plasterboarded around and thus be built-in just like it was in the old house.

Touchwood have finished the loft which is much larger than I had imagined. Angie’s Christmas decorations are the first inhabitants!
